It’s not hugely special – it’s a procedurally generated set of boxy rooms that sprawls further into any direction that you choose to explore. On the conventional side is the dungeon itself. It’s a welcome difference from cobwebby dungeons.įusion Paradox’s appeal, at least to us, is how it uses a reasonably conventional framework to try out some reasonably batshit ideas. The world is certainly inviting, though: it’s an attractive voxel world that’s lit gloomily and is dense with Agency desks, photocopiers and office booths. It’s fine, but it’s a little dense at the start of the game, and we were happy to wriggle out from underneath it and play the roguelite stuff. It's just the Paradox launcher v2.We will admit to finding it less interesting than whomever wrote it. I don't see similar long loading times with other Chromium-based programs, whether browsers like Opera and Vivaldi, or Electron like Visual Studio Code. All of my hard drives are healthy according to CrystalDiskInfo's S.M.A.R.T. The amount of RAM the launcher uses, whether successful or not, looks pretty normal, and I observe no thrashing. In both occasions, the launcher spent a long time reading the DLC archives, and ultimately loads correctly. I've used Resource Monitor to check hard drive usage during long loading times twice. "loading the list of mods failed" and "An error occurred" always follows a long loading time, but even with long loading time, the launcher may still load properly. In other words, after a failed launcher startup, restarting the launcher immediately have always worked so far. They occur randomly, but never twice in a row, making it hard to reproduce. It saddens me that the random "loading the list of mods failed", "An error occurred", and long loading time still happen from time to time with 2021.1.
